Statement of Faith

The Holy Scriptures – We believe that the Bible, made up of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God, divinely inspired, entirely trustworthy, free from error, and the only infallible, sufficient, and authoritative rule of faith and practice.

God – We believe in One God, Creator of heaven and earth, perfect in power, holiness, and love, who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ – We believe in One Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is God manifest in the flesh. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless human life, His divine miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His present and yet coming Kingdom, His mediatorial work, and His personal and bodily return in power and glory. We believe there is salvation in no one else.

The Holy Spirit – We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, one with the Father and the Son, who was poured out by Jesus after his ascension to indwell all believers, guiding into all truth, convicting of sin, bearing Spiritual fruit, cultivating Spiritual gifts, enabling godly living, and empowering work and witness for Jesus Christ.

Creation – We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them very good, and that creation declares the glory of God and reveals His invisible attributes. We believe that God uniquely created human beings in His own image, with equal worth, as rulers over, workers in, and stewards of His creation, and that He created them distinctly and immutably gendered as male and female, according to his good plan.

Marriage - We believe that in this act of creation God designed marriage as a covenantal bond between one man and one woman, which is affirmed by Jesus in the New Testament. We believe that in this marriage union God made and blessed a special spiritual, emotional, and sexual intimacy, and that God’s intent for sexual intimacy is to occur only in the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman.

Sin – We believe that Adam and Eve sinned when tempted by Satan, and that Adam’s sin brought upon himself and his posterity not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and subjected all creation to futility and bondage to corruption. We believe that, in union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, are justly deserving of God’s wrath, and are utterly unable to save themselves.

Redemption – We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful people is a free gift of God’s grace apart from works, purposed by the Father before the creation of the world, accomplished by the Son through His atoning death and victorious resurrection, applied to His people by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, and received by faith.

The Church – We believe that God purposed before the foundation of the world to choose and call a people for Himself, from every tribe and language and people and nation, and that He acted in history to redeem and purify His Bride. We believe in the universal church, consisting of all those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ, united across time and space. We believe in the local church, into which God calls His people to gather for worship, witness, ministry, accountability, and spurring each other on to love and good deeds.

Consummation - We believe in God’s glorious culmination of history when Jesus Christ returns. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost—the saved to eternal life and blessedness in God’s presence and the lost to eternal punishment. We believe that God will create a new heaven and a new earth, with no sin, death, mourning, or pain, where His glorified people will see His face and worship Him forever.
